Letters First, an artist collective which is actually out of Los Angeles (Knowing Gallery) and known even among street artists in Barcelona that we interviewed last week during a recent session, created an original art exhibition with Royal Elastics sneakers during Bread & Butter Barcelona July 4-6. Royal Elastics, which is known for their interesting collaborations such as with the Andy Warhol Museum, Gwen Stefani (including an amazing Reggae inspired high-top and spat cuff), took it the next level however, with their collaboration with Letters First.
Letters First is an artists’ collective which in this showcase, included talented street and graffiti artists such as Doze Green, Haze, Ron English, Phil Holt, Steel, David Choe, SP One, Victor Reyes Chapa, Jersey Joe, Tommy Ruets, Stormie Mills, Aaron Horkey, MQISM, Push, Pose, Retna, Krish, Phyn Finn, Alexis Ross, Barry Twist McGhee, The Mac, Persue Bunny Kitty, Shawn Barber, Norm, Amandalynn, Ewok, Rik, Matt Gordon, Saber, Shepard Fairey, Mr. Cartoon, among others.
What can best be said about the Letter First gallery was that it attracted thousands of people who may originally been on their way inside the show to see the Street & Sports section, but had to stop, look, and take pictures of the artwork, expression, and colors that evoked a variety of emotions among onlookers. By the second day, the art show was so popular, that the signature Bread & Butter “bear” couch seating was packed with people simply sitting and relaxing in the artistic atmosphere created by the Letters First and Royal Elastics exhibition.
