Fashion + art have always maintained an intertwined relationship, particularly when it comes to street fashion and graffiti art. On March 15th Label Networks will present its first LABELLAB EXHIBITION that shows this connection at Crewest Gallery in downtown Los Angeles featuring live fashion art installations created by LABELLAB members’ Cardboard Robot, Andrew Hanson, Miss Wax, and Original Hip-Hop Chocolate. The Exhibition marks an opportunity for emerging street fashion brands to depict their independent style through artistic installations in a unique gallery in downtown Los Angeles.
By teaming up with Crewest Gallery, one of the only galleries in Los Angeles dedicated to street and graffiti artists, THELABELLAB Exhibition will have the necessary backdrop to showcase street fashion in completely refreshing dimensions. Fashion artist Andrew Hanson, creator of the original artcore fashion label "Andrew Hanson's F Clothing That Speaks," will create his "Up and go D.I.Y. studio" with original one-of-a-kind hoods utilizing his technique called "Toxic Printing" that requires printing with spray paint. Each piece will also include screenprinted "Inside Stories" much like a certificate of authenticity about the event or collection insignia, plus date, title of the special collection, care instructions, and of course a poem. Andrew Hanson will also debut his Muslin Wall Pieces to compliment the original collection, and offer up samples from his See-Lief, City of Devils, and Black or White collections.
"If Art is your Muse than this is the opportunity to score a truly unique piece with the potential to own something no one else has. I see no reason why one shouldn't come out and view "Lief" as is it happens, as it is created," explains Andrew of his work at THELABELLAB Exhibition.
Other highlights include Miss Wax and her acrylic jewelry and accessories collection featuring an eclectic installation piece and video of the process of creation. Cardboard Robot which is also known for their amazing cardboard furniture will showcase their massive rotating cardboard wheel along with highlights from their popular collection of hoodies, T’s, jackets, and pants. With Original Hip-Hop Chocolate, expect to see the only giant chocolate sneaker, boombox, and turntables on the planet—plus smaller edible chocolate goodies shaped with original street culture icons. Etchstar will be on-site to customize your cell phone or iPod, making your coveted key electronic accessory a one-of-a-kind.
Live DJ set will be provided by DJ Akaider throughout the evening along with artwork provided by Crewest’s select global street and graffiti artists.
