It’s rare that you can walk into what’s really a fashion trade show and be entertained by an incredible gallery display of top New York City graffiti artists. However at United Trade Show in New York July 23-24, there was a showcase of wood pieces of artwork from the legendary Moody collection, plus Baby 168 TVS, DR, RD 357, among others. The unique style in over-sized wood carvings brought out the bubble letters and facial expressions of the characters known as Moody signature pieces and had people checking out the short descriptions of the various artists’ work under each piece.

But the art didn’t stop in the entrance: in the lounge area above the Red Bull bar was a massive collection of Mr. T dolls courtesy of Greg from Mishka NYC, who also has a Mr. T tattoo on his leg. In a mesmerizing display of dolls, each Mr. T was created separately by various owners so there were several different attitudes and outfits on each cabbage-patch like doll. Interestingly, the display represented only a portion of what Greg has acquired through a variety of sources, including E-Bay, over the years in what is known as the largest Mr. T collection in the world. It’s cool when you see someone’s collectible passion come to life and this was a great example of an ‘80’s icon that obviously made an impact.
