Bread & Butter Goes King-Sized Expanding with Sourcing Section, Bigger Sport & Street, Sportswear, + Fashion Shows

Bread & Butter, one of the most eclectic trade shows for select brands in street and contemporary fashion in Europe (including a heavy emphasis on denim), has announced some interesting new plans for their upcoming show January 16-18, 2008 in Barcelona. Under the theme “King Size” the show is expanding all the way up to the top palace of the Fira de Barcelona, where a show staged by filmmaker Bjorn Tagemose will illuminate the Palau.

In addition, during the three days of the trade fair, the Palau Nacional will be home to an exhibition by B&B Design in collaboration with two international schools of fashion: the Dutch Fashion Institute led by Angelique Westerhoff and Die Angewandte in Vienna, whose Creative Director is Veronique Branquinho. 20 students from each institute will be showing their work in the Sala Cúpula – a perfect symbiosis of modern and traditional, which is also reflected in “The Art“, another highlight of BREAD & BUTTER: “The Andy Warhol Collection by Pepe Jeans London,” a fashion line based on Warhol’s original works of art, will be presented in the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion, an architectural icon.

With “The Source” BREAD & BUTTER will open its own trade fair for the preliminary phase in July 2008. Fabric producers, specialist from laundries and dyeing houses and accessory manufacturers will get a taster in January 2008: Hall 6, one of the two halls in which The Source will take place in the future, will present itself to potential exhibitors using sample stands, decorations and lighting concepts true to the original.

Another new admission is Hall 5 next to the Sport & Street Area. Under the name of “Sportswear“ about 30 sportswear and outdoor brands will be presenting themselves, such as Napapijri, Peak Performance, North Sails and Belfe. Furthermore, also located in Hall 5 is the exclusive B&B Business Club, serving key players in the industry as a forum for exchange. In January, the concept for the new season will be presented there for the first time.

Even though the exchange rate for U.S. brands going to Europe is tough right now, this show, and particularly the show in July, are quite incredible in terms of the attention to details, creativity, lights, music, architecture, brands, and attendees.
