The press conferences in Barcelona, Spain, for the Bread & Butter Trade Show held July 5 revealed interesting new information about the course of Europe’s most highly regarded denim, streetwear, urban, and contemporary fashion trade show starting with the news that the show would expand to twice the size for January, 02008. One reason for this expansion is that Bread & Butter, which originated in Berlin, over the past year had decided to shut it’s location in Berlin (see previous stories in Fashions section) and concentrate on one location and two shows per year only.

The current areas of Bread & Butter, which include Denim, Fashion, Sport & Street, Superior, the Luna Park for various exhibitions by brands and designers, plus the designer gallery Studio.V , will have additional components in January, including an entire Sourcing area for select brands, and other halls. Hints from the show director, Karl-Heinz Müller indicated that the expansion program may include more for Sport & Style with elements that include the lifestyle around this genre such as music and graffiti and street art.

In addition, the mayor of Barcelona pointed out that Bread & Butter would be given access for expansion that reached all the way up the Fira de Barcelona area to include the domed palace at the top of the hill. The palace dome with its marble seating, architecture, and outstanding acoustics makes it an ideal space for hosting more musical components to the show itself, which over the years has clearly made this show more unique than most because of its atmosphere for both business, networking, inspiration, and culture.
