In Part 2 of the Urban Woman Experience “Within,” (see also last week’s “The Urban Woman Experience “Within” Draws Diversity of Female Talent in Graffiti Art, Slam Poetry, Rap/Hip-hop, + Street Fashion Indicating the Rise of Women in a Predominately Male Subculture”) we feature the very cool bags by brands such as the Cinnamon Roll Gang. Each piece is unique with different vintage materials used to create specific characters in a collage effect that function as bags.
As part of the an event that featured women graffiti and rap/hip-hop artists, the unique bags with various themes were part of a fashion and crafts boutique fair at the event created by Blue Chips.
Timoi, a graffiti artist and the director of the Urban Woman Experience explains, “Our hope is to bring in an ever-changing world a new and fresh look at what it means to be an urban artist, which is still a relatively new phenomenon and continually changing.” At the fashion fair, each designer brought with them their own creations, including a variety in women’s street fashion bags that had many people snapping pictures. Overall, the collections indicate creativity and inspiration from found scraps and new usage of materials indicating part of a trend that focuses on the growing importance of accessories in women’s streetweear fashion.
