In Part 2 of GenArt’s Fresh Faces showcase (see also Part 1 from last week, “GenArt Fresh Faces Fashion Show Features 12 Emerging Designers With New Sources of Inspiration + Style Signaling What’s Next”) we focus on the menswear designers Orthodox and Endovanera that premiered at the show October 12th at the Petersen Automotive Museum.

Orthodox was greatly admired by fans who interested in indie style of men’s suits. With pieces such as the Chaucer jacket, Marquez jacket, and short, tight pants, the overall looks had an indie rocker, dressed-up aesthetic. Launched by Eric Niccoli, as the designer puts it, Orthodox is a synthesis of street and civility. The pieces were a refreshing take on what a modern version of the men’s suit could be with various jackets, button-down shirts, and pants. Orthodox also featured its first women’s collection.

For Endovanera, this new brand started by 24-year-old David Michael, combines aspects such as a militia jacket in a resin wash combined with black twill denim. He takes aspects such as thermal front wovens and suits, mixed with boxer hoodies to create an extremely fresh and hip look for men. Among the favorites included a silk-cashmere knit cardigan hoodie and pin-striped wool slacks. While the line is contemporary, there’s definitely a streetwear influence overall.
