In a recent live interview at the Skylight Studios in New York City during United Tradeshow, Cody Debacker from The Grn Apple Tree explained the concepts of his unique brand and why, for example, they started in Japan before moving to the U.S. even though they’re a 7-year-old U.S. based company. Known for being on the leading-edge of style, Grn Apple Tree crosses boundaries in their collections by providing passion and meaning behind each piece, such as politics in the graphics or music lyrics as poetry to patterns in T-shirts and jackets. By starting with releases in Japan, they were also guaranteed a 1-year-headstart in that many top trends do start with our friends across the Pacific before moving to America. Still on the DL, stores such as Closet and Active have pumped up the hype for the elusive brand (which is often coveted by LA and NYC DJ’s) in New York and other places across the country, as well as Europe, and now boutiques in China.

In their recent collection, punk and ‘90’s rave get a restructuring with white jackets with black pocket dots, lightening bolts on colorful turquoise and red T-shirts, as well as the revival of old bands through fashion including a T-shirt inspired from the Germs. Colored denim in purple, and caps such as the basketball leather lid are also key features to the brand.

As Cody explains in the interview, next steps for Grn Apple Tree include jewelry with their lightening bolt graphics, caps, new colors in denim, a collaboration with a “big sneaker brand,” and continued inspiration and collaborations from music and musicians.
