Urban Meets Art, Street Meets Rave, + The Joker’s Wild Among Top Fashion at Sneaker Pimps Show

By Ryley Bane

Our 3rd story from the Sneaker Pimps Show is inspired by the people themselves and the various styles that clearly are pushing trends in streetwear. From girls mashing up vintage dresses, headbands, and rave colors and caps, to guys sporting elephant graphics, medals as bling, and Revolutionaries in T-shirt graphics, the show held at the Crash Mansion in Hollywood was a must-see event for the gathering of the tribes in this expanding subculture.

Rare kicks, artistic showcases, and sneaker exchanges were the reasons behind the tour, but also, the lifestyle and meaning around it have inspired people in their style. Brands such as Crooks & Castles and their chain-link graphics were among the highlights, as well as Obey, and rave and vintage on girls. Key trends include:

  • Wearing coveted kicks on belt loops
  • Medals as bling
  • Elephants (a New York thing) in graphics and accessories
  • Plaids in black + white, especially in long shorts
  • Revolutionaries to tell meaning in T-shirt graphics
  • Music-inspired graphics such as Keith Richards in black + white
  • Satan and devil graphics
  • Rave colors in turquoise, pink, purple, yellow
  • Stereos as graphics
  • Vintage dresses paired with headbands, bags, charms
  • Jokers, blindfolded kings, queens from cards as graphics
