Arctic Monkeys: English pop worth the hype
undefined

There is a lot of hype going on in the music world about the Arctic Monkeys, four very young lads from Sheffield England. Hailed as the band that are “stretching boundaries, but can still crap on the competition”, recently release Whatever People Say I am, That’s What I’m not (Domino Records the same label that brought you Franz Ferdinand and The Kills). About to embark on their first major tour, they have a freshness and punch that seems to be lacking in many bands today. Influence by The Clash, The Smith and the Jam, they seem to by years ahead of the other English Pop bands  that have debuted in the last few years. With their youth bring interesting insite on their perspective of the world, hence the razor-sharp lyricism that fuels songs like ‘A Certain Romance’, a witty observation of small-town life where “there’s only music so that there’s new ringtones”

This is another band which has had much success on marketing themselves on Myspace (http://www.myspace.com/arcticmonkeys) especially in the UK, which they recently were chosen #1 by listeners on the BBC music polls.
