In an effort to provide funding for the recent victims of the Southern California fires that have ravaged parts of Malibu, San Diego, and Orange County, Unite the United, a non-profit organization started by the founders of the Vans Warped Tour and Taste of Chaos to encourage fans and musicians to come together and contribute to charitable causes, has teamed up with Music for Relief, founded by the band Linkin Park to raise funds for people subject to natural disasters such as Katrina. The two organizations have started an eBay auction of items from bands such as VIP tickets to concerts, signed instruments, and collectables from bands including Linkin Park., Madonna, Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, and the Eagles, to raise awareness and funds for victims of the fire.
Phase 1 of the auction started Monday, November 5th, which will run for 10 days, with Phase 2 starting on Thursday November 8th and running for 7 days.
Funds will go directly to the California Community Foundation’s Southern California Wildfire Relief Fund to aid victims, particularly focusing on needy population groups and those needing affordable housing. Proceeds will also go to the American Forests’ California Wildfire ReLeaf Fund to reforest affected areas.
