“That’s my pig…” said Roger Waters at the end of his first set when fireworks displays went off during his “Dark Side of the Moon” extravaganza on Sunday, April 27, at Coachella. We looked on with awe and wonder as unfortunately the two-story giant inflatable pig prop set floated away into the desert night sky.

Press releases went out last night about the reward to get the pig back: “COACHELLA organizers are offering $10,000 and four (4) festival tickets for life in exchange for the safe return of the two-story inflatable pig that broke loose during Roger Waters’ set on the final night (Sunday, April 27) of the 2008 COACHELLA VALLEY MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL.  Anyone with information on the lost pig, should email lostpig@coachella.com.”

The pig had scrolled on one side “Don’t Be Led to the Slaughter,” and on the other “Fear Builds Walls.” On the bottom was simply the statement “Obama.” The pig originated with Pink Floyd as a statement and prop set taken from their 1977 version of Animals--a commentary on the evils of capitalism. There was always much debate from band members as to who would get the pig, but apparently it now belongs to the desert. Stay tuned for more for more on the lost pig saga.
