G-star runway show from Bread & Butter

With E3, the world’s largest video gaming conference taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center June 2-4, video game publishers are announcing new releases. A potential real hit on the horizon is the 505 Games and IMG’s announcement of their new video game called Fashion Week. The idea is to provide a multi-platform game including iPhone compatibility, whereby gamers and fans of fashion can pretend they’re participating live during Fashion Week (this is intended to be a fashion week anywhere, but the theme seems NYC-centric), complete with industry insiders, designers, models, celebrities, and runways.

The concept was created by make-up artist Pa McGrath in a collaboration between IMG, the media, sports, and entertainment company, and gaming publisher 505 Games.

“The time is right to bring the high fashion world of Fashion Week events to the videogame platform and we’re thrilled to be partnering with IMG to make it happen,” said Adam Kline, president of 505 Games U.S. “With today’s videogame technology and IMG’s incredible reach into all facets of the global fashion business, we’ll be providing fashion enthusiasts the opportunity to experience all aspects of the international fashion scene at Fashion Week.”

IMG manages many of the top international fashion weeks, including New York, Miami, Moscow, and Mumbai. With their experience, they plan to make the game as inclusive of all of the backstage thrills that come with the high-drama world of fashion weeks including runway shows, parties, and dealing with make-up artists, models, and designers.

The first of a series of titles will be available starting in 2010.

Stay tuned for fresh stories from E3 including new game and platform releases, and the state of the video gaming industry, next week.
