Bob Burnquist Lands 900 On Mega Skate Ramp
As X Games medalist Bucky Lasek described X Games gold medalist Bob Burnquist’s latest accomplishment, it truly “may be the best trick ever accomplished on a skateboard to date.” Announced on September 9th, Bob Burnquist accomplished a life-long goal of completing a 900-degree rotation off the Mega Ramp, an event and obstacle that’s become a media darling in action sports, particularly for Bob Burnquist who is among the best on a Mega Ramp.

During the X Games last month, Bob had announced that he would soon be accomplishing this feat, and he tried over and over again -even after the competition had ended and the fans had left the L.A. Memorial Coliseum. Unbelievably, Bob was still there, trying over and over again, under the lights. But in the end during that event, he wasn’t able to pull it off. However just a few weeks later, on his own Mega Ramp built in his backyard in Vista, CA, he not only pulled off the 900, but did it fakie to fakie.

Nike 6.0 announced that they were stepping up their sponsorship level of the upcoming 3rd season of the Winter Dew Tour as the new title sponsor starting with the opener in Breckenridge December 16-19 2010. The Winter Dew Tour is a 3-art competition series for snowboarding and freeskiing and is quickly becoming a top event series in action sports.

For the Breckenridge event however there’s much hype based on the fact that this resort has an epic newly-elevated 22-foot Superpipe which is among the best in the world. This alone gives the event an incredible amount of media coverage. For Nike 6.0 this is a step up from their associate-level partnership over the last 2 seasons. Nike continues to move aggressively into action sports as seen with its massive activation during the U.S. Open of Surfing with it’s sponsorship featuring Hurley Nike 6.0 and Converse over the past few summers in Huntington Beach CA.

Other Winter Dew Tour events include the Winter Dew Tour Killington VT January 20-23 and Toyota Championships February 10-13 at Snowbasin in Ogden Utah.
