From the Denim Religion Show at Bread & Butter.

As Bread & Butter Berlin ramps-up for their leading-edge fashion trade show, they’re also releasing invites to a variety of interesting art shows, music, and various unique performances that combine fashion and movement. One that we found especially appealing is The Denim Religion Show to take place each day, July 3-5, 2012 at the Tempel of Denim area, a massive structure covered with huge swaths of blue denim.

Bread & Butter has always had denim at the heart of the show, and with this performance, it’s clear that denim is in a sense, their religion. The art show performance premieres at midnight during the kick-off party on Tuesday July 3rd. The preview of the performance art features a man painting a canvas with indigo paint with two huge brushes, working as though he were playing a drum. In comes a beautiful goddess (of denim, presumably), and workers who create a wooden structure, which harkens back to the roots of denim as the original workwear for miners during the Gold Rush in northern California. Of course, the result of this film has a more European flair to it, with sultry imagery, music, and passion that results in unique crossover of fashion, streetwear, art, and dance.

While the Denim Base, Tempel of Denim is the main area of Bread and Butter, there are other sections that provide an edited platform for various brands in other subcultures, including Sport & Street, D.O.C.K.
