CHF Industries, which makes home products such as bedding, sheets, and curtains, announced today, April 22 that they have entered into a licensing deal with Quiksilver and Roxy.

According to CHF Executive Vice President Joan Karron, “CHF plans to translate the surfing and boardriding culture of Roxy and Quiksilver into home by using the brands’ mountain and wave logos on products with innovative constructions and colors.”

“Partnering with CHF Industries allows us to further our vision of creating a complete lifestyle company,” said Steve Tully, president, wholesale, Quiksilver Americas.

This should be interesting to see in terms of how the surf industry reacts but also how popular these home products will be among consumers. CHF also makes products under brands such as Donna Karan, DKNY, Daisy Fuentes, and Umbra, among others.

Billabong Title Sponsor of Pipeline Masters
Sponsorship in surfing always seems a little strange as events seem to be hosted by one company, only to be sponsored by several others. Such is the case with the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. Known as the longest running pro surfing event, it’s the final stop of the Association of Surfing Professionals World Tour (ASP), which runs this year from December 8-20. The Vans Triple Crown includes 3 separate surf events, starting with Haleiwa, Sunset Beach, and ending with the most popular in the world on the North Shore of Oahu at the infamous break Banzai Pipeline.

If there was one event to sponsor in terms of worldwide recognition in the sport of surfing, it would be this last jewel of the Vans Triple Crown, which Billabong has signed on for until 2012. The $340,000 Billabong Pipeline Masters (or the third and final event of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing), always brings with it huge waves and top professionals, plus every surf photographer in the world who line the beach capturing images.

Interestingly, when most companies are pulling back on sponsorship, Billabong has moved forward to claim this coveted spot.

“It goes without saying this iconic event is still the benchmark for professional surfing and we are proud to be associated with the Pipeline masters and all its history,” said Billabong’s VP of Marketing Graham Stapelberg.

“Billabong has recognized that support of the Pipeline Masters brings, without a doubt, the most return of any event on the ASP World Tour. They get it! Another three years of sponsorship will help to build this event to unprecedented levels, of which it so deserves,” says Randy Rarick, Executive Director Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.
