Kevin Lyman and the diverse line-up for the 2010 Vans Warped tour

The 16th annual Vans Warped Tour kick-off party at the Key Club in Los Angeles on April 9 proved to be a diverse extravaganza of what will take place this summer on North America’s longest running touring festival. Performances by Andrew W.K., The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, The Pretty Reckless, Pierce the Veil, Death Punk, and a comedy routine by Beachers Madhouse “Oompa Loompa’s” proved predictions that this summer’s tour will offer up another diverse line-up and activities.

“Warped is more than a music festival,” explained Kevin Lyman, the Vans Warped Tour founder and director at the annual kick-off party. “It’s become a rite of passage, a lifestyle, for many young people. We have non-profit booths, sponsors with great programs, band autograph signings, and a day packed with things.”

According to Kevin, the “lucky 16” tour has come back with another amazing line-up including many new bands including rockers Street Sweeper Social Club, to metal from Dillinger Escape Plan, and keyboard rock from Andrew W.K., mixed with classic punk such as Pennywise, Dropkick Murphys, and Alkaline Trio. Since tickets went on sale March 26, pre-sale volume is already higher this season than last year, which shows the power of this tour.

The Pretty Reckless.

“Anyone who thought that after the 15th Anniversary last year we would let up, was mistaken,” continued Kevin. He also introduced the legendary Steve Van Doren from Vans who will also be out on the road again for most of the summer, and is highly adored by musicians and fans alike.

The Vans Warped Tour kicks-off its 43-date season June 25, 2010, in Carson, CA, and ending August 15 in Hillsboro, Oregon. Top sponsors include Vans, KIA Motors, truth.com, Monster Energy Drink, Trojan, Skullcandy, Wonka, Ernie Ball, Alternative Press, NAMM, American Rag, Fuse TV, Dickies, Altec Lansing, Glamour Kills, Skatera, Sabian, Zildijan, PETA2, Shirts for a Cure, Amnesty International, Keep-a-Breast, and more.
