Collections showcased at Capsule range from boutique designers to a variety of international labels.

The fashion trade show season is about to get underway with a variety of top shows starting this week, including Agenda in Long Beach on Tuesday-Wednesday, January 7-8, 2014, Bread and Butter in Berlin, and the upcoming Vegas shows in February.

It’s an exciting time for major transitions to the trade shows, including new owners and opportunities. Today, January 6, 2014, Capsule announced that it has joined Reed Exhibitions, owners of the streetwear and action sports trade show, Agenda.

Here’s more:

Capsule, which has 12 shows annually held in New York, Paris, Berlin and Las Vegas, specializes in presenting a curated assortment of high-end progressive and independent designers to a worldwide community of prestigious retailers and fashion editors. Its emphasis is on classic and forward thinking sportswear and accessories, plus ancillary experiences that speak to the cultural creative audience. Renowned for an infectious vibe and a strong buzz among trend makers and watchers, Capsule has become a not-to-be-missed event since its launch in 2007.

Capsule, which has been independently operated by fashion consultancy BPMW since its inception, will join Reed’s growing portfolio of fashion events (that already includes AGENDA). The two companies will collaborate on show development and work to further enhance the overall experience for the exhibitors and attendees who make up the Capsule community. Working together, Reed and Capsule will drive customer value to new heights, providing the high-end fashion community with greater access and expanded opportunities to grow and thrive.

“We’ve watched the community of Capsule brands shape the fashion landscape and we’re proud to offer a boutique experience that provides the opportunity for industry relationships to flourish,” said Deirdre Maloney, co-founder of Capsule. “ But as the market has grown so have we, and the time is right for us to join forces with a world class company like Reed that can help us do what we’ve always done, better. We are so impressed with Reed’s global perspective and rich experience, and we’re looking forward to working together on what is and will remain a very personal project for us.”

“We feel that Capsule is a great cultural fit with our growing fashion portfolio, and a great addition to what we’re doing with the AGENDA events” said Greg Topalian, Senior Vice President at Reed. He added, “The team’s dedication to the feel, authenticity and respect for the market it serves has been, and will continue to be, the keys to Capsule’s success.”

The three co-founders of Capsule, Maloney, Edina Sultanik and Minya Quirk, will work closely with Topalian and the Reed management team in running the events and are excited for the show’s evolution.

The transaction was completed in late December. Terms were not disclosed.
