4th Annual SBC Achievement Awards on Earth Day, April 22, 2015.

The timeframe is now open for businesses of any size in Southern California to enter the Sustainable Business Council (SBC) Achievement Awards and be recognized as leaders in the region for making an impact.

The SBC is a non-profit organization which provides a professional networking and education forum for Southern California businesses and individuals working with sustainable products, services, and processes. It hosts the annual awards event to recognize industry environmental leaders from the region, given out on Earth Day, April 22, 2015.

The event will feature remarks from the pioneer and lifetime achievement award recipients, plus eight other sustainable awards.

The judging is done by a team of sustainable business leaders who will award points to those who apply based on a written submission called a “Pitch Essay.” The Pitch Essay will be evaluated by each entry’s product or service commitment to the following categories:
•    Sustainable Benefit of Product or Service
•    Commitment to Hire Sustainable Vendors
•    Socially Responsible Practices with Developing the Product or Service
•    Community Outreach
•    Financial Viability

Here’s more information about the application process.

In addition, the SBC has announced the pioneer and lifetime award recipients for the Fourth Annual SBC Industry Achievement Awards, including Jessica Alba and her co-founders from The Honest Company and Participant Media, who will be at the ceremony on April 22, 2015, from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. PDT, at Lexus Santa Monica.

The event will also feature a Restaurant Showcase, tastings from top vegan, vegetarian and sustainable chef and restaurants. Attendees will select the SBC Restaurant of the Year award at the event.

“We are excited to recognize the leading sustainable businesses and individuals in the Southern California area,” said Steve Glenn, Chair and co-founder of the Sustainable Business Council.  “We are blessed to have an incredible group of honorees, sponsors and partners.”

The awards reception and ceremony salutes and spotlights Southern California companies working to support the mission of SBC: to improve businesses’ operating efficiencies, profit margins, and staff productivity, while lowering the ecological impact of their products and services. The awards also honor individuals and projects that have made outstanding impacts in the sustainability industry.
