ASR launched Thursday, January 24th with all of the excitement that comes with walking the trade show halls of fashion from the giants of surfing, skateboarding, motocross, and action sports lifestyle. Of course the Volcom area had it usual themes this year including neon green and pink, and Electric Vision next door which was just bought out by Volcom celebrated with a Let It Snow theme and confetti snow everywhere. But interestingly the motocross area continues to expand and provide new energy -all surrounded by Famous Stars & Straps. Check out next week’s stories for more from the show floor.

The highlight on the first day of the show was the fashion runway sponsored by Foam Magazine. With ASR’s winter show, the fashion show focused not so much on hot bathing suits, but rather lifestyle apparel from brands such as Nikita, Lucy Love, Volcom, Sector 9, Etnies, Ezekiel, Seychelles, Alpinestars, Fox, Vans, Lost, RVCA, Oakley, Hot Tuna, Paul Frank, Hurley, O’Neill, Sabre Vision, Reef, Billabong, Roxy, Von Zipper, American Apparel, DaKine, Havianas, BC Footwear, and a separate show with Matix.

Key themes included high-waisted denim, dresses, peacoats, tight denim in grey, cardigans, t-shirts, hoodies in a recontextualized fashion, short ’80’s jackets in leather, and hats including page boy and fedora, plus boots, knee-high socks, and flats.

There’s more to come from the show, but here’s a preview from the 1st day:
